Christian Dior brings vintage back in fall 2012 runway show

July 20, 2012
Christian Dior looks back to the glamorous days of Audrey Hepburn for inspiration for his fall line.

True vintage never goes out of style. And that statement was proved yet again during the Christian Dior fall 2012 fashion show, held Monday, July 2, at the private residence in Paris on the Avenue d'Iena. Raf Simons, the creative director for the high-end label, had long-legged waif-like models strutting their stuff down the runway in a 54-outfit collection.

The outfits were not only beautiful, but femininely chic without being too over-the-top. Cigarette pants, vibrantly colored tailored wool coats, long organza gowns and hand-embroidered details were the stars of the show. These old-school classics were given a contemporary twist through the addition of pockets and were designed with light, wearable material which would make any woman feel like a modern-day Audrey Hepburn.

Even before the show began, there was excitement in the air surrounding what types of clothes the Simons' collection would feature.

''I haven't been this excited to see a show in a long time,'' revealed Emmanuelle Alt, the editor of French Vogue. ''Today I'm going to see something I've never seen before."

Other big-name designers at the event included Marc Jacobs, Donatella Versace, Ricardo Tisci and Diane von Furstenberg. Jennifer Lawrence, Sharon Stone and Marion Cotillard were just a few of the actresses who attended the show.

Although you may have not been invited to the Dior show, there's no reason why you can't look as good as those on the guest list or the models themselves. High-fashion calls for fabulous accessories.
