Many aspiring designers would jump at the opportunity to study fashion in a world-class city like London, and now Condé Nast has opened a school for this purpose within the heart of the city. The Condé Nast College of Fashion and Design welcomed students from 23 countries around globe for their first day of class on Monday, April 15. There are two tracks available, one that is a year long called “Vogue Fashion Foundation Diploma,” and a 10-week course simply dubbed “Fashion Certificate.”

Both programs provide individuals with a worldwide look at the extensive world of fashion and promise to help prepare them to pursue jobs within the industry. Regardless of what track students are enrolled in, they will have to demonstrate “interest and understanding of visual disciplines,” as well as sound writing and creative skills. The longer curriculum costs just under $30,000, while the shorter one will set students back approximately $10,000.

Individuals who are looking for less expensive tuition still have the option of enrolling in London’s Central Saint Martins Academy. A two-year fashion master’s program costs $20,000 for one year and $11,800 for the second year. Famous graduates include Alexander McQueen, Christopher Kane and Riccardo Tisci, the creative director for Givenchy.

Condé Nast International’s President and Managing Director of Condé Nast Britain Nicholas Coleridge told Vogue Magazine that he is sure the school is going to do well. “Condé Nast is well placed to enter the field of education, with the considerable authority and expertise vested in the Vogue brand.”

Men and women who want to become involved in fashion, whether they’re interested in designer accessories or designer shoes, can find more information on the school’s website, www.condenastcollege.co.uk.
