Milan Women’s Fashion Week
February 19th -25th, 2014, one of the fashion world’s most popular events will be back, featuring fall and winter collections for 2014 by some of the industry’s most influential designers. Milan fashion week is part of four international fashion weeks, the other’s being Paris Fashion Week, New York Fashion Week and London. Organized by Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana (The National Chamber for Italian Fashion), Milan Fashion Week is held at historic landmarks in Milan such as the Castello Sforzesco (a 15th century castle), the Piazza Duomo (Milan’s central square) and the famous arch Arco della Pace. The event has individual shows starting every hour and features both private, indoor shows as well as outdoor public events.
Milan Fashion Week will feature over 130 collections in nearly 100 fashion shows with shows that range from 5 minutes to over an hour in length. Some of Fashion’s most influential designers will be there to reveal their new collections. A few famous participants who return each year to showcase their iconic Italian styles include Gucci, Prada, Versace and Moschino. The designs these infamous companies send down the runway will determine 2014’s fall and winter trends, and influence styles all around the world. A few of the other designers scheduled for the show are Armani, Paola Frani, Genny, Iceberg, Fendi, Missoni, Roccobarocco and Uma wing. Newcomer Stella Jean will present her latest collection thanks to Giorgio Armani, who personally secured her a spot at this years show . The last day of Milan Fashion week will feature a show called N-U-D-E: New Upcoming Designers, that will showcase the collections of fashion’s future top designers.
Journalists from around the world attend Milan Fashion Week to capture each moment, while buyers from high-end boutiques are there to start placing orders for their stores. Celebrities such as Selena Gomez, Kate Moss, Olivia Palermo and Georga May Jagger travel from all around the world to be a part of the glamorous event. While some of the shows are invitation -only, tickets for the majority of the event can be purchased and there are plenty of free outdoor shows for anyone to attend. All of the fashion show after parties are open to the public, allowing fashionistas to brush shoulders with some of the fashion world’s most stylish icons and designers.
