Fashion Fund Dinner in NYC celebrates upcoming designers

On November 13, promising fashion designers and the world's most highly regarded fashion moguls gathered in New York City for the ninth annual Fashion Fund Dinner. This event is held as a way to celebrate and present those breaking into the clothing world with money and mentoring by famous figures like Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour.

The recipients of the cash prize were selected from 10 finalists, but in the end, Greg Chait, a designer known for the knit-based collection he dubbed The Elder Statesman reigned supreme and took home first place. Tabitha Simmons was named the runner-up for her fabulous shoe designs. Chait was awarded 300,000 and Simmons was presented with a $100,000 check.

The Fashion Fund was established after the September 11 terrorist attacks. Although everyone across the country was deeply affected, designers in New York City were particularly impacted. Money became tighter than ever and the economy took a downward spiral. To help them on their feet again, Wintour put together a group presentation in a space that was generously donated by Carolina Herrera.

At this year's affair, chief creative officer of Burberry, Christopher Bailey, was the featured speaker. He focused on the path he took that led him to the a highly coveted position at one of the world's best known fashion houses. Also in attendance were actresses Christina Ricci and Liv Tyler.

It's safe to say that all the people who were present at the dinner know the importance of looking their best. However, just because you weren't a ticket-holder doesn't mean that you shouldn't look like a million bucks. To do that, make sure you have designer shoes like Dolce & Gabbana's pony shoes. They are sold on Dellamoda.com, an online fashion retailer that sells high-end merchandise for less than what you would pay at a department store.
