Kerry Washington always looks fabulous, but her outfit was especially sophisticated at this year's MTV Video Music Awards.

The best of the MTV Video Music Awards

Most people love award shows because we not only get to see our favorite stars praised for all their hard work, but what they are wearing as well. The MTV Video Music Awards, which aired on Sunday, April 14, was no exception.

From gorgeous dresses to impeccably tailored suits, the attendees at this event drew both praise and criticism with their outfits. At Dellamoda.com, here are our picks for the best dressed celebrities of the night:

1) Emma Watson
Her Maxime Simoens cut-out dress was not only effortlessly cool, it was age-appropriate. Her luxury shoes crafted by Proenza Schouler are to die for. Far too often, Hollywood starlets try to dress older than they are, which makes them appear as if they are trying too hard. Watson knows the importance of embracing her youth, which is why she's constantly on the best-dressed lists.

2) Selena Gomez
What's not to love about a long-sleeve gold metallic mini-dress designed by Julien Macdonald? This frock had the perfect amount of sparkle without being over-the-top. The fringe at the bottom added an extra hip factor.

3) Karlie Kloss
We say if you've got it, flaunt it! That's exactly what model Karlie Kloss did. She showed off her svelte figure in a white Cushnie Et Ochs cropped top and matching high-waisted pencil skirt.

4) Kerry Washington
It's not easy wearing a high-low dress, but Washington executed it perfectly. The combination of orange and black looked chic and anything but Halloween-like. We loved seeing her hair swept back in a chignon, which let her outfit shine.

Pulitzer was not only known for her designing talents, but love of hosting parties as well.

Iconic designer Lilly Pulitzer passes away at 81

On Sunday, April 7, the world grieved the loss of one of the most iconic and revered fashion designers in the world, Lilly Pulitzer. She was 81 years old when she passed away in her Palm Beach, Florida, home surrounded by her loved ones.

Pulitzer, who was made famous by her brightly colored and preppy skirts, dresses and sweaters first designed one of her pieces for former First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy. She later revealed that the shift dress was not created by luxurious, imported fabric, but rather her kitchen curtain. People fell in love with her designs, prompting her to start her own line.

Her shifts, which Pulitzer called "Lillys" were inspired by the stains that would cover her clothes at the end of a day working in her parent's orange groves. Ten years after graduating from the prestigious Miss Porter's School in Farmington, Connecticut, she ventured out and started her own juice stand in 1959, the same year she began designing. Soon, people began asking where they could get the the pieces that Pulitzer was seen wearing.

Pulitzer is the first to admit that she wasn't sure whether her lack of business background would hold her back.

"It was a total change of life for me," Pulitzer told W Magazine five years ago. "I entered it with no business sense. It was just something that I all of a sudden took over."

Pulitzer, who graced the Palm Beach party circuit and became a well-known socialite, was known for her care free attitude and love of entertaining. She published two books on how to be the perfect hostess and was known for her belief that "It's always summer somewhere."

If you can't get enough of Pulitzer's bright and happy prints, why not wear the happy hues she is known for on your feet? At Dellamoda.com, we sell designer shoes that are not only offered at a discounted prince, but stylish too. We love our Cesare Paciotti red high heel platform sandals and think they look especially great for a night out on the town.

Whether he is at the beach or wearing a tuxedo on the show, Don Draper always looks impeccable.

What to expect from the fashion choices on “Mad Men”

Since it first aired in 2007, the hit television show "Mad Men" has drawn loyal viewers with not only its spicy plot, but its retro clothing. Because the program is set in the 1960s, the audience has become accustomed to seeing leading men like Jon Hamm, who plays Don Draper, and women such as January Jones, also known as Betty Francis, in psychedelic bright prints, empire waists and polyester suits and skirts. Costume designer Janie Bryant told the Washington Post that her main sources of inspiration were photographs from the 60s.

One thing that viewers will notice after the season six premiere is the elegant evening wear. From the velvet and brocade floor-length dresses with embellishments that include jewels and feathers to perfectly tailored pant suits, this type of clothing is sure to catch your eye.

When it comes to colors, expect to see tons of muted shades like beige and nudes. That's not to say that brighter hues like pale pink and purple won't be integrated into the clothing – Bryant is well aware of the fact that part of what made style from this era so interesting is that many of the pieces were colorful and bold.

Lastly, "Mad Men" fans should pay attention to the hair and makeup. Remember that the saying "bigger is better" definitely applies during the 1960s. Bouffants reminiscent of Brigitte Bardot will continue to be popular, as will Don Draper's side-parted slicked-back look.

Regardless of whether you watch the show, it's hard to deny that the fashion from this decade has influenced many designer accessories and designer shoes in the modern era. If you want to look as retro-chic as characters on the show, look for low stacked heels or trendy flats like those sold by Dellamoda.com. Whether you are in the market for a new pair of Cesare Paciotti pumps or Fendi suede flats, our sales representatives will ensure you look and feel your best!

Whether she's at a charity event or out and about in London, Kate always looks amazing.

Kate Middleton’s maternity style continues to draw praise

The world has fallen in love with the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton. Whether she is attending a charity ball with Prince William or simply walking around London, she has proved to look gorgeous wherever she goes and has been praised for her approachability and down-to-earth nature. Although all news about her is considered important, perhaps the revelation that has drawn the most attention is that Middleton and her husband are expecting.

Everything that she has worn during her pregnancy, including her designer shoes and designer accessories, has drawn praises from people around the world.

"She's flattering her bump in the right way, and keeping her style consistent prior to her pregnancy," said stylist and blogger Nikki Pennie to E! News. "She knows what suits her. It's not as if she's bought a whole new maternity wardrobe – she's recycling a lot of items and giving inspiration to many young moms everywhere."

Although she is just starting to show, style experts like Pennie don't think that even after her belly grows, she'll stray much from the fashion choices that she made before she found out she was expecting.

"She'll wear more 'Kate' coats, more babydoll dresses, the same sort of shapes that are perfect on her, and she'll continue to mix designer and high street pieces so it's accessible," revealed Pennie, who has styled the famous mom-to-be.

Middleton has been seen shopping at various retailers like TopShop, L.K. Bennett, MaxMara, Gap and Peter Jones. Her due date is in July.

We assure that you wearing ruffles won't make you look like a cupcake.

Spring’s latest trend: ruffles

Spring has finally graced us with its presence, and those who have had enough of turtlenecks and winter coats can finally rejoice in the warmer weather. Break out the skirts, espadrilles and dresses because like many women, you're probably ready to start showing off your uber-feminine side. However, if your style is in need of a warm-weather makeover, you probably aren't feeling very excited to show off what you've been hiding in your closet over the past few months. Ladies that fall into this category should hit the mall and look for this season's latest trend: ruffles.

At Dellamoda.com, we know you don't want to look like a cupcake when you step out your front door, and that's why we advocate ruffles that are less over the top and more subtle. Paired with the latest designer shoes, ruffles have been spotted everywhere, from the outfits of celebrities like Kerry Washington to the runways of Oscar de la Renta, Christian Dior, Ralph Lauren, Gucci and Balenciaga.

We understand that some women may be concerned that this look isn't exactly wearable or age appropriate, but that couldn't be farther from the truth. Of course, don't don yourself in ruffles from head to toe, but a ruffled camisole or blouse under a spring blazer or worn with jeans is not only sophisticated, it's totally in vogue, too! If you want to save the ruffles for your accessories, purses are a great way to embrace this trend. We're a big fan of this Just Cavalli handbag. Ruffled shoes are equally hip. They are the perfect mixture of edgy and feminine and go great with an outfit that is simpler on top, like a little black dress.

Many of the models at MBFW Russian walked the runway wearing stylish black bob wigs.

Russia’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week kicks off over the weekend

When most people think of foreign fashion power-houses, cities like Milan, London and Tokyo may come to mind – not necessarily Moscow. However, that is all changing as Russia's capital is in the middle of its annual fashion week.

The event started in 2000 and was originally dubbed Russian Fashion until it teamed up with Mercedes-Benz in 2012. It's now called Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week (MBFW) Russia. Thirteen years ago, this seven-day affair featured just 20 designers, but since then, has made leaps in the industry. Today, 150 individuals showcase their collections.

''We've been picking up designers from other cities, searching for talent in our schools and universities," said Alexander Shumsky, president of MBFW Russia, according to Elle Magazine's U.K. edition. ''We want to make Moscow a hub for Russian speaking designers.''

The event began on Saturday, March 30, and has already spotlighted a cornucopia of designers that have turned heads. Georgia's Ria Keburia made a bold statement by putting her models in accordion-inspired pleats and accessorized the women in golden helmets. They strutted their stuff on the catwalk to church music. The last two females covered their chests and walked in nothing but long black skirts.

Svetlana Tegin also turned heads. She presented an assortment of knitted shawls, part of her "Paris" collection, in which every model wore a black bob wig that was reminiscent of Louise Brooks. They also sported over-the-knee socks paired with loafers.

Because Russian fashion has yet to expand like other markets, designers have undeniably come across challenges – mainly that of expanding their talent. As a result, many upcoming designers are forced to study abroad. However, the combination of talent and determination is sure to help this industry within the Siberian country to take off very soon.

Braces have become more fashionable than dorky in countries like Thailand and Malaysia.

Fake braces are becoming the newest fashion trend among teens in Asian countries

Most teenagers hate hearing that they are going to need braces. Among other concerns, they worry that putting them on will hurt and they'll be teased by their peers. Although it seems more uncommon these days than not to see an adolescent without a mouth full of metal, this type of orthodontic treatment isn't usually that popular with teens – that is, unless you live in certain parts of Asia.

That's right. In various regions of countries like Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia, some adolescent male and females are paying more than $100 to have what has become known as black market braces. These phony brackets certainly don't straighten teeth because they are more designed to make a bold fashion statement than anything else.

Orthodontic treatment can cost upwards of $1,000 and so braces are unaffordable for many families in Asia. As such, a mouth filled with metal brackets has become a status symbol. Unfortunately, however, black market braces can cause some health problems. Because they aren't put on by a dental professional, pieces may come loose, crack teeth and inflame gums and sometimes even result in oral sores. Doesn't sound too fashionable, does it?

Federal governments such as the one in Thailand recognize the risk of fake braces and have instituted a punishment of six months in prison and a fine of more than $1,500 to anyone who sells or applies black market braces.

Although Asia certainly has made a name for itself as an emerging and modern fashion market, this is one trend that our fashion experts at online designer retailer Dellamoda.com say should have been left behind once the new year started.

Kanye West and his girlfriend Kim Kardashian made their way around the parties over the weekend.

Partying for Art Basel continued over the weekend in South Florida

The temperature may be dropping in most cities across the United States, but Miami is one spot where men and women are bringing the heat. Art Basel, a weekend-long fashion and art celebration which started on December 5 and ended December 8, showcased some of the best creations in the business and along with unique paintings and sculptures comes the fabulous parties that South Florida is known for.

On Friday, December 7, socialites, artists and designers gathered for a get-together hosted by famous photographer Bruce Weber at the Standard Spa, according to The New York Times.

''I just landed; that’s why I’m late,'' said Donna Karan, who partied with people like Calvin Klein, reported the publication. Like most guests, she had a long night ahead of her.

Visionaire Magazine editor and co-founder Cecilia Dean showed off her manners at the event by telling reporters that ''The most important thing is to always say hello to the host.''

The party at the Standard may have been an indication of who's who in the art and fashion world, but that doesn't mean that guests were going to stay too long and wait to be seen. In fact, by 8 p.m., many were already off to the next affair, an upscale dinner hosted by Miami real estate mogul Aby Rosen and his wife, Samantha Boardman at the W Hotel's Dutch Restaurant.

Baseball player Alex Rodriguez, actor Owen Wilson and the Hilton sisters were among those at the event. After attendees finished eating, they made their way to the W's nightclub. Never to miss out on an opportunity to show off her designer handbags or designer shoes, Kim Kardashian and beau Kanye West reportedly arrived around midnight and hit the dance floor with all the other guests.
